Cameron and I arrived in Fort Myers late last Wednesday night-- he did wonderful on the plane and got many compliments on how good he was.. (I had to laugh because NO ONE wanted to sit next to us at first.. If you want a row to yourself.. bring a baby on board!!)
Our first full morning in Florida was spent walking through Koreshan State Park-- what a beautiful place!
Here's some history:
Koreshan State Historic Site was founded by Dr. Cyrus Teed, a surgeon in the Civil War. After the war he founded the Koreshan Unity in Chicago. In 1893, he and other followers known as Koreshans came to Florida and began construction of a settlement in Lee County that was to become a large communal city. They generated their own electricity, had a boat works, general store and other businesses. In 1961, the last four members of the Koreshan Unity donated the land to the state of Florida as a park.
